Fabric, thread, buttons and bows

We all  have a favourite shop don’t we.  It might be simply the corner shop that is open in the small hours just when you need that drop of milk; or it might be somewhere that sells specialist things that you simply can’t get anywhere else.  I have a couple of favourite shops like that and The Cloth Store in Horsham’s Carfax (https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Cloth-Store  and http://www.clothstore.co.uk) is one of them.

Established for over 20 years the Cloth Store is a wonderous emporium of fabric related loveliness.  You are always assured of a friendly smile and cheery conversation from the lovely ladies who work there, all of whom are very experienced dressmakers and crafters – so no matter what your dilemma they are sure to be able to offer some free and invaluable advice to help you overcome that tricky issue.

In these times of so many independent retailers closing down and fabric shops increasingly becoming online presences only, it is refreshing to be able to walk in to a veritable Aladdin’s Cave stuffed to the rafters with all kinds of fabric related items.  Not only that, but they stock a really good range of contemporary printed cottons and polycottons for dressmaking and  quilting.

Some of the newest fabric to arrive at the shop are is a range of the vibrant patterns of Amy Butler, and at less than £14  a metre represents outstanding value for a premium brand!

The Ribbon Bar  – something for everyone

The shop sells a vast array of traditional silk and organza ribbon, and it is slowly building up a new range of contemporary printed and woven ribbons such as these delightful reels featuring cute campers vans and very British Beefeaters.

Traditional dressmaking and quilting are not all that is on offer at The Cloth Store.  For the past year the shop has carried a wide range of craft kits and notions for all levels of crafter.  There are counted cross stitch kits small and large as well as cute boxes containing everything you need to make a sweet row of colourful fabric bunting to a cute and cuddly teddy bear, or puppy dog.  For the more adventurous among us there are felting kits from

the Fluff-a-Torium Range of Gillian Gladrag (http://www.gilliangladrag.co.uk).  Each of these brightly coloured bags contains the basic wool tops ready to be felted into something tremendous such as  a handbag or tea cosy.
