Paisley Pedaling

Out and about today on my trusty bike Dorothy, that’s her in the banner picture at the top fo the page.  Took a day trip out to Deal and Walmer Castles and rode Dorothy along the beach front between the two.  She behaved impeccably!

Here she is on the cycle path (also part of National Cycle Network route 1) between Deal and Walmer.

There’s something special about riding a vintage style bike.  The sit-up-and-beg style of riding is so elegant and is amazingly easy to ride, it’s such a natural position to be in.  Dorothy is a new bike (well not brand new as I’ve had her for a while), but she is a modern bike made by the Dawes company in a vintage style as part of their Heritage Range.  She is a lovely deep purple colour with gold decals, a super comfy saddle, padded handlebar grips, basket and a really fab loud bell.  She also has modern gearing with a Shimano 7 speed derailluer.  So while not a real vintage bike, she definitely has “The Look” with all mod cons!  Below are a couple more pictures of Dorothy on her day out.
